I preferred the diveyness of this place before the reno. Before, it was homey. Its best attributes were intangible: A cozy interior, more exposed brick and a vibe representative of the surrounding neighborhood. Now, it's just affectedly modernized. And sure, maybe a few coats of paint and leather-bound menus will attract more traffic from the Cape. Who knows? But what's certain is that by pretending to be that which it is not, the Endzone feels fake in all the ways that matter. Because even if a touch of class could be seen at first glance, the service immediately suggests otherwise. It's not rude, just unrepentantly carefree. Want everything you ordered? That's a bit nervy here. Expect to get another beer in a timely fashion? You'd better expect to mosey on up to the bar. On the upside, the seafood is very fresh - which isn't shocking, given that the docks aren't too far away. The garlic shrimp appetizer was amazing but my scallops were underdone. My GF's tips arrived in a strange tasting sauce. Notes of oddness and all that. Sides are served in dishes the size of a thimble's bigger brother. Maybe it's a tactic to keep prices down. Either way, it's clear that there are far better places to spend some coin nearby.

This place reminds me of home every time I eat there. Great food Great service! BEST Portuguese food around!

I recommend checking out EndZone - it's a quasi-Sports bar/restaurant serving up a combination of Portuguese and American food (TVs from pretty much every conceivable angle). From the moment you walk in, you immediately notice the speed of the service amid the bustling atmosphere of the restaurant. Our waitress convinced us to get the buffalo shrimp instead of ordering the wings and the Shrimp Mozambique. (bad call - I should have tried the shrmp mozambique I tried the Carne Espito but thought it was too dry. Apparently the chicken sandwich is popular item that everyone likes. I really need to go back to the EndZone and try more of their menu because I don't think my first visit was representative of how good EndZone can be. Oh ya, I think the Sam Summer Pitcher we had was $10 which was sweet.

Very good sports bar/pub fare. I have heard the seafood is good here, and will have to try it next time I go back. I had the steak tips and chicken tender combo and was not disappointed! Good Selection of drafts, and reasonable prices.

Delicious food and reasonably priced. Stopped in for a quick early dinner while oh the road for work and I was pleasantly surprised. The happy hour specials seemed like a good deal (2 dollar burgers) but I had heard good things about the chowder and fish and chips so I tried those instead. A good decision, they were excellent!

I have been to the end zone a couple of times before, and although the service has always left much to be desired; slow and not all that friendly, the food was pretty good. My family and I went there this past Saturday to celebrate my brothers birthday, and it being a Saturday night it was busy. We were a slightly bigger party; 5 adults and a young child, and there were many parties ahead of us, so we were expecting a wait.. But we were not expecting to be blatantly passed over again and again in favor of smaller parties.. It seemed there was only 1 table in the restaurant to accommodate us, because not only were all of the parties that arrived before us called, naturally, but multiple parties of 2 and 4 that arrived after us were called before us as well.. The host came over to us at one point about a half hour into our wait to apologize for the wait and inform us that the party at the table were were going to be sat at was done eating and he was waiting for them to leave... 20 minutes later we were still waiting, we couldn't see having a good experience there after the ordeal we had just been through, so we left. If so many other parties that arrived after us had not been seated before us, I could have understood the wait, but at least 4 parties of 4 and probably even more parties of 2 that arrived after us were seated before us. In summary, if you aren't going out with more than 3 other people, and don't mind slow service but decent food the end zone isn't a bad choice. Otherwise.. I wouldn't recommend it, and because of this experience, I doubt I will return there.

Bartender was very friendly. Price was fair. Atmosphere was average.

I haven't lived in New B for 30 years, but I go home at least 3 times a year. There are certain food stops that are a must when I go home and End Zone has replaced my old seafood stop. I have yet to have a bad meal at this place. My sister ( who didn't care for it her first visit) said she went the week before Easter three times and the food was "slammin' " as she put it.

I had always seen The End Zone, but never dared to go in. It seemed like it would be a dump. I was rather happy to find out that my assumption of this sports bar was wrong. The End Zone had a great and speedy staff that were really helpful and always tried to make themselves useful. Our Waitress took care, but didn't smother us like all the other restaurants where they ask you how you are doing every time you try to chew your food. The atmosphere was just a little much with the whole somewhat smokey interior of the bar room. I went on a Friday Night, so the place was packed. We started with the spicy quahog which was not spicy at all. I dont really want to know what the regular one tasted like. But other than that and the warm bread that they set out, it was pretty good. The dinner Chicken Caesar Salad ($14) was big and scrumptious. It was perhaps the best salad I have ever tasted. I got the Cocoila Sandwich plate with fries ($12). A good cocoila sandwich isn't that hard to make, so I wasn't surprised that I wasn't vomiting in horror like The Exorcist. And, to top the whole night off, my dad hit keno for 25 bucks. Maybe thats the reason why I liked the place so much, but whatever. All i kinow as that my dinner was paid for.

Antonio's rightly gets lots of credit, but this gem just down the block has some killer seafood. The portions and freshness factor here are bananas. If you want top-notch fried seafood, the fisherman's platter can easily be split between two people. It's around $14. They use whole-bellied clams and fresh ocean scallops. Broiled seafood dishes are very good here as well, the seafood platter is a favorite of mine. The chowder isn't so good, so don't waste your time. The End Zone bills itself as a sports pub, but they've got some of the best seafood in the area.

I've only been here a couple times, but I've been pleasantly surprised both times. The place is in walking distance of my home, which is always a plus when trying to find someplace to eat at last minute. I've had the wings - delicious. I'm a sucker for good wings, so they definitely win bonus points for that. They have a great selection of beers on tap (which honestly is surprising for a "local bar" in New Bedford, as it isn't something they advertise. Their mixed drinks seem interesting, and generally appealing. And they have daily specials, often including some Portuguese cuisine that is quite flavorful. Portion size is always pretty great. My friend said the Reuben was the best Reuben she'd ever had (of course, now she doesn't want to order one, anywhere else)! This is a ringing endorsement. We'll stop in here again for sure - its super convenient, and everyone is extra friendly.

Last night we stopped by to check this place out again; the first time I was a little too drunk and buried in nachos I can barely remember. Ordered a mixed drink and it was stronger than usual which is always a plus. Boyfriend got a couple of beers. They brought out Portuguese rolls--they were ok. I ordered the cacoila plate--a massive pile of rice pilaf, fries, and shredded pork. The rice & pork were realllllly tasty and had the perfect amount of zing. Fries were fries. I would go back just for this. Boyfriend ordered a special on the board--Cajun chicken Alfredo. The chicken was cooked well and he enjoyed the sauce but wished the chicken was spicier. Service was friendly and fast. We'll definitely be back when we want a quick resolution to "where do you want to eat?" "...I don't know. Where do YOU want to eat?"

For appetizers, we tried the wings (2 Buffalo, 2 Honey/Teriyaki, 2 Portuguese Style). Delicious. We might go back just for wings and drinks some night. Abner's Blue Margarita tasted a little funny (like baby aspirin) and I encouraged him to send it back, but he stoically drank it down. My apple martini was very good. I got the Ralph's Rueben and Abner got the Chicken Parmesan sandwich. We like it here for a quick meal.

Never had a bad meal here hands down they have the best seafood in all of New Bedford and I am gonna go out on a limb and say some of the best if not the best I've had in New England. Scallops are sweet cod is clean clams are sweet and clean just never disappointed. The steak tips and shrimp is also killer you won't be disappointed with any of the seafood or tips. I am comparing this to Turks which I live right near the black whale fathoms and waterfront grill puts all of them to shame every owner from all of those places need to go take a lesson on seafood and eat at the endzone. The owners are always nice but as much as I go not too personal kinda the only sad part but I'm their for the food and not to talk so screw it still giving them a 5 star because it's about the food!

Have been to this place more times then I can count on 2 hands and I've never written a review. So here it is: Endzone is what I consider to be a gem in the middle of scummy New Bedford. The location is pretty terrible but what can you do! The food and atmosphere most definitely make up for it. I have never disliked anything I ordered from here. To name a few -- stuffed quahog, shrimp mozambique, cacoila, chicken parm, baked fish and even their bread is excellent. One thing they could work on is that the staff is usually a hit or miss. They are either extremely sweet or just plain snobby and rude. They recently updated the whole restaurant and it looks great inside! Love this place.

Lunch with my daughter in an area that, back in the day, I spent a lot of time hanging out in. The Endzone was packed but we grabbed a table after parking in one of the three restaurant parking lots. Friendly atmosphere. Nice bar. Tvs to watch whatever sports are on. Lots of tables. Service was fast and friendly. I decided on the Azorean chicken, linguica and shrimp which was in a spicy sauce with fried potatoes. Very very good. Loaded with meat and topped with crispy potatoes. I did all but lick the pan it came in. Kid wanted steak and ordered a gorgeous 12oz New York strip with mashed potatoes and green beans. Cooked perfectly. Juicy. Delicious. We didn't have room for dessert but I'd come back for grapenut pudding. In fact, I will!

Cant say I ever had a bad meal here. Its a local lunch spot for me and they usually have pretty cheap and filling lunch specials. You can get a great meal for the same price as a extra value meal. I like the chowder (only when served very hot) the fish and chips are awesome a very nice light batter. I love the cacoiala here. There golden fever chicken wings are really good as are the stuffed mushrooms. They serve good burgers (a little overcooked) if you order a special they are all cooked to well. The service is always prompt. Place is clean. Check it out!

Haven't been here in years. Figured let's give it a shot was always good in the past. We parked and walked thru the door. The bar was about 90% full. Their were 3 tables that had guests. We stood their for about three min "waiting to be seated" people walked past. Not one person acknowledged us. No head nods, NO, be with you in one sec., Nothing!, just the bar people glancing over....., EVEN had a waitress walk by and attend to her table about 15' from us. Not a look over. three min is an extremely long time to stand their. So needless to say we left. At the 99 now. Greeted with a smile. Prompt service. Sorry end zone. We wanted to have a cozy dinner didn't happen. Won't bother again......

I really, really, really, wanted to like this place. It's near where we live and it's privately owned. We thought it would replace our favorite pub where we lived in Florida. Alas...it will not. The interior is more of a restaurant than bar. It's nice and new. There are some TV's around the bar but none of the sound is on. It's all light music from many, many years ago. Probably if a Pats game was on...it would be more sporty? The bartender (Tim?) was super nice and very attentive. The beers were cold and delicious!! The food...now that's where we take a turn to negative town. We ordered chicken wings, bone-in gold rush. The wings seemed to have been fried frozen, then breaded, then refried and sauced. The drumsticks came out, ice cold in the middle and the wings had quite a bit of fat. My husband ordered the Azorean chicken and shrimp. It was a lot of food and it was very tasty! My food on the other hand... :(. I ordered the clam strips and french fries. You could tell my meal was finished cooking first and then it sat...alone on the shelf. The clam strips and fries were cold and the strips were even soggy, from being hot at one point in their short lives. The clam strips were also more like clam baseballs because they were dropped into the fryer stuck together. All-in-all they have a wide menu selection and maybe we would order one of their pizza's in the future. Maybe...but probably not.

I've been coming here for years and the food is great, but the last few times I've been here the serviced has been terrible. Today was the final straw therefore the reason for this review. Are server Jennifer was just hanging out along with three other waitresses shooting the bull near the takeout area. We're sitting there attempting to make eye contract to be like hey we're ready for the check. After about ten minutes I had enough, and went up to the cash register and asked if I could just pay there are waitress all of a sudden snatch the bill out of my hand. Then I want to take my left overs home, and she drops the container on the floor and then Gives it to me to use.

This sports pub has a nice sporty appeal to it with memorabilia all over the walls. The food was really good as I had the clam strip dinner which came with fries and coleslaw. Some of the best clam strips I had in a while. The menu overall is nice but the one thing that bugged me was the weight staff eats at the table right in front of the entrance. I don't find it to appealing walking in a seeing staff eating. I am all for them having lunch but it should be done in a break room.

I'm not new to this place whatsoever, I've never had a bad experience yet, everyone in here treats you like they've known you forever. Last night I was with a party of 17, and our waitress was phenomenal! She was so attentive and she handled the huge party extremely well. I got an antipasto salad with no olives extra pepperoncini mmm...it was great!! Everything was fresh, I have no complaints! Great for kids, nice atmosphere, reasonably priced! I say if you haven't eaten here yet you're missing out!
